About Barkana Falls

Deep in the emerald heart of the Western Ghats lies Barkana Falls — a towering veil of water that descends through Agumbe’s rainforest, known as the ‘Cherrapunji of the South’. Fed by the Seetha River, it falls from a height of 850 feet, creating a cloud of spray that rises to kiss the canopy. From the viewpoint, the horizon stretches endless and green, with sunbeams slicing through mist. The name ‘Barkana’ means ‘Mouse Hole’, derived from a local legend, yet the sight is anything but small. It’s grand, wild, and reverent — a hymn to nature’s majesty sung by the mountains themselves.
